February 2020 : Exercise and Sport (Spain)
The second LTTA took place in Spain in Alicante from February 2 to February 8, 2020 on the theme of physical activity. Five students from our high school went there accompanied by Mrs Cormier (coordinating teacher) and mrs Zink (Spanish teacher). The students presented in English to all the participants (about twenty teachers and fifty students) in the form of PowerPoint the results of a survey on sports practices inside and outside of the school, a survey which had been carried out in their high school with their classmates. A high-quality film on the installations used by our high school and produced by Mrs Gautier, PE teacher, was also screened. All along the week, the students, grouped into international teams, took part into sports workshops: Yoga classes, Latin dance classes, sailing and canoeing in the bay of Alicante, long-distance hiking in Font Roja National Park, orienteering, as well as visits: "The ocean race" a museum on nautical races, visit of the ONCE center, and practice of a sport for visually impaired people, the torball.

Housed in host families in a neighborhood ideally located by the sea, the students lived to the Spanish rhythm, and spent time with their correspondents, were able to prepare traditional dishes (paella valenciana), discover the city and the hinterland of Alicante, and progressed in Spanish thanks to the language immersion offered by this type of stay.
All these activities and workshops took place in English, which also made it possible our students to make fabulous progress in this language. |
I decided to take part in this trip to Spain in Alicante because I love Spain and I thought the activities and the city would be nice. We were able to live the life of Spaniards for a week. We visited a museum about boats that was very nice, we sailed, we worked and played games by group of students from mixed nationalites in the morning. In the aftenoon we spent time with our penpals. I lived with my penpal’s family. They lived right across the street from the school. They welcomed me and took care of me. I had dinner and lunch with them. In the evening I went out with my penpal and her friends, which allowed us to meet young people. What I prefer is to get to know other people from other cultures, because there are Finns, Italians, etc ... The activities that were offered were really great and not at all boring. I was able to learn a lot of things. What surprised me the most was to see teachers in a different atmosphere than school. They did the activities with us, discussed with us about subjects other than homework and tests. One thing is sure : I will remember this trip with my classmates and teachers. I will always remember the great moments of this trip : the laughters, the photos we took , the activities, the people. It is also a very good way to learn and practice English. This trip also allowed you to visit beautiful places. If you have the opportunity, take part to an Erasmus project, you will not regret it ! — Lucy |
I decided to participate to the mobility to Alicante to discover more about the Spanish culture and plus, this was the first time I traveled to Spain . I also wanted to improve my Spanish. In Alicante, we worked and did some games with all the participants of the mobility, parctised sports like kayaking, hiking and visiting museums and, of course, the region of Alicante. We also did some shopping of local specialities such as Turron. Each student was accommodated in a Spanish host family. I really liked the beach, the kayaking, the weather and the food there because they are no beaches here in Paris and the weather in Paris is usually cold around February unlike the weather in Alicante which was hot and sunny ! What surprised me the most in a good way is the cafeteria in the school where the students were able to buy food which was very good and cheap, at any time of the day. I will always remember the time when the French teacher of the school that hosted us invited us, the French students of the program, to a crepes party with her French students — Jewel |
I decided to participate to the mobility to Alicante because I thought it would be a great experience. My penpal was Carlota who had a sister and a brother. We did many activities and we met a lot of people fron different countries . We worked in the morning in international groups, we went to a museum and we did a lot of games. We visited all the different parts of Alicante. In my host family, everybody was very nice to me and I loved their food ! I actually still talk with Carlota and her sister, we became friends. Honestly, when I was hanging out with Carlota friends. it was very funny, we went to an arcade, to the mall, to the restaurant and to the beach : we had a lot of fun ! I was surprised by the amount of people who love French people and France, and I was amazed about how everybody was so friendly and welcoming. I will always remembe the people I met there, my friendship with Carlota, this trip with my class and my wonderful host family.
